Spacing Tape Installation Instructions

1. Measure the area to determine the exact placement of your sign letters. Make sure the area is clean and free of dust by wiping the surface with a clean, dry cloth. Always double check the pattern for accuracy before starting. Double check that all sign letters were delivered.

2. Hold the spacing tape in place and tape both ends. Make sure it is straight and level. Adjust if necessary. Secure it with additional tape to prevent movement.

3. Spacing tape provides a baseline indication for the proper placement / spacing of each sign letter or logo element. Remove any backing from the adhesive or tape on each sign letter or logo element, and gently place them on the mounting surface in their respective locations above the spacing tape. Making sure each sign letter is properly aligned; apply pressure to ensure a secure bond.

4. Beginning at one of the top corners, remove the spacing tape away from the baseline of the letters.

What is spacing tape?

Note: Rounded letters are designed to be slightly larger than a non-rounded letter in height overall. Therefore, they do extend below the baseline. Please account for this, as the top of the spacing tape is the baseline, which is the bottom of a non-rounded letter. Spacing tape not address vertical alignment or correct letter placement in relation to the baseline. For exact positioning, the pounce pattern installation method is recommended. The pounce pattern and spacing tape need to be ordered at the time you order your sign letters. They can not be produced later.

Rounded Letters Explanation: On many fonts the "O"s and "S"s and other curved letters are larger vertically than are the flat top sign letters like "E" and "H". This is because the human eye perceives curved sign letters to be smaller than square sign letters. These curved sign letters usually float vertically between the square sign letters. In most cases, sitting all sign letters on a straight line will not achieve a visually balanced sign. Mounting and Pounce patterns are full size reproductions of your sign on paper and do all the alignment work for you. For exact positioning, the {pounce pattern installation method} is recommended.
